Ron Adams a noted regional artist, and art and social studies educator, earned degrees from the University of Washington in art education and history and a BFA in painting, he later earned a MA from San Francisco State University in media technology. Adams taught drawing, painting, photography, jewelry, design and social studies over a 32-year span in Bellevue and Mercer Island High Schools. He was awarded Outstanding Art Educator of the Year for the State of Washington and Outstanding Supervisor Administrator for the 17 states Pacific Region. He served several times as President of the Northwest Designer Craftsman group and has exhibited extensively regionally and nationally his paintings, mixed media and sculptural works. Ron is noted for curriculum design, new teacher mentoring, supervising teacher interns and presenting professional development. Among his greatest accolades are those of his students many of whom have achieved significant positions in arts related fields and other professions.
Larry Calkinsartist and educator developed his own repertoire of art making skills following the tradition of native peoples by learning from his environment, peoples of the world through research and learning from personal exploration, practice and experience. For 17 years Larry directed the film processing labrotory at Ivey Imaging in Seattle. Larry’s work in his studio, metal shop, dark room and computer has resulted in a highly successful artistic career and body of works including photography, sculpture, mixed media assemblages and works using numerous found and natural materials. He is represented locally by G.Gibson Gallery and nationally by American Primitive Gallery in Soho, NYC: Rice/Polak Gallery in Provincetown, MA and Gallery 500, Philadelphia, PA. Larry recently completed Artist-in-Residencies at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma and Lakeridge Elementary School on Mercer Island.
Edd Cox is a multimedia artist who works in painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and digital arts. He earned his BFA degree in Painting from the University of Washington and has been commissioned to paint major public and privately owned mural installations. Edd taught at the Northwest School, Mercer Island and Bainbridge Island schools and the Seward Park Art studio. His work has been exhibited at the Center on Contemporary Art and the Frye and Tacoma Art Museums. He was Artist in Residence At Seward Park Pottery Art Studio and the Centrum Foundation.
Diane Culhane holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Utah and an MA in Education from Seattle University. Diane is a ceramic artist, painter and educator. She currently directs the Kelsey Creek Fine Art School and teachers at Kirkland Art Center and formerly at the Bellevue Art Museum.
Laurie Hall is an art jeweler and teacher, who enjoys creating strong narrative pieces that incorporate incidents from her life and the American experience. Studied under the renowned jewelry artist and UW professor emeritus Ramona Solberg at the University of Washington. Laurie holds a B.A. Degree from Willamette University and a M.A.T. from the University of Washington. Laurie has continued to develop her art career while teaching at Mercer Island High School 1967-1992 and The Bush School 1992-2001. Represented by several galleries in the United States, locally she was represented by the Mia Gallery and is currently represented by Facere Gallery, Seattle. Her jewelry is published in several art books and included in collections at The American Craft Museum, The Tacoma Art Museum, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, King County Arts Collection, Washington State Art Commission collection.
Ron Ho is an internationally celebrated jewelry artist and honored art educator. Ron taught art in the Bellevue School District for 32 years at all levels. During Ron's tenure in Bellevue Schools he was granted a yearlong sabbatical to research craft techniques around the world. He completed his public school career as an elementary art specialist and now continues to teach in schools in the region as a Seattle and King County Arts Commission artist-in-residence and recently with the Tacoma Art Museum's National Endowment for the Arts Grant in conjunction with their Ken Cory Jewelry exhibit. Ron is the recipient of several distinguished art educator honors: he was honored as one of the "100 Outstanding Alumni" and "Distinguished Alumnus of the Year" by Pacific Lutheran University, the Pacific Regional Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association, Washington State Elementary Art Educator of the Year by the Washington State Art Education Association, and the Asian Artist of the Year by the Wing Luke Asian Art Museum. Ron continues to design and create one of a kind silver and found object jewelry. Ron's jewelry has been shown in museums nationally and internationally. His jewelry is in the collections of numerous private and public collections, local venues include the Tacoma Art Museum and the King County Arts Commission. A major retrospective of Ron's Jewelry "Becoming Chinese: The Jewelry of Ron Ho" was exhibited at the Honolulu Art Academy in 1995. Ron leads travel groups on tours of important world craft art locations continuing his study of craft and design.
Larry Metcalf, a textile and mixed media artist, was professor of Art at Seattle Pacific University for 37 years. He established the Art Center Gallery Exhibition space, the art education-teaching program and created The Children's Art Classes. As a King County Arts Commissioner, he was chair of The Percent for the Arts in Education Programs. His work has been exhibited at the Bellevue, Tacoma and Seattle Art Museums and The Henry Gallery. Larry is current President of the Northwest Designer Craftsman organization.
Stewart Wong is a mixed-media studio and public artist whose work ranges from paper arts to three-dimensional assemblages and sculpture. He received his BFA in Interior and Furniture Design from Cornish College in Seattle. His teaching experience includes: Arts and Craft instruction and volunteer assistance to the youth summer recreational programs in the Honolulu School District, Origami workshops in the Boise School District and Girl Scout troops in West Seattle, as well as seminar lecturer at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Currently he is a Roster Artist with the City of Seattle and Sound Transit working on public art commissions involving community projects.
